The Top 2 Ways to Cool Down in Bend Oregon

Trying to describe this experience is giving me writer's block... I can't think of a way to put that much fun into words. Refreshing, exhilarating, wakeup call, adventure, life, green, happy, bucket list... That's all I got!

You can see from the video that Oregon is stunning and a true nature haven. It looks like we're in Hawaii, but nope, that's our very own mainland. There are so many nature hot spots out there that are calling, and I am answering.

After the waterfall adventure we set out for a float down the Deschutes River. It conveniently runs right smack through the middle of town, so you can park next to the river and put anything from a pool noodle to an air mattress in the water and enjoy a 1.5 - 2 hour float that leaves drop you off in downtown. From there, you can either take a shuttle back or use two cars and strategically park the second car near the take out point.

The float is a fun social experiment. It's a way to see Bend's culture and people up close and personal. On a summer weekend it's packed with kayakers, stand up paddle boarders, and fellow floaters. It's common to bump each other as if we are bumper boats throughout your float. Since people glide up to you frequently, it's a fun and relaxing way to meet new Bendites. Oh, and just a year or so ago they added a standing wave to the river and a few rapids for the floaters. Check out the video to watch me ride down them.

I hope you're enjoying this Get Back to Nature Road Trip, I sure as hell am. Here are some more pics from the day:
